Peterhead v East Fife: Preview

Fri 24 Feb 2017

East Fife have won all three matches against Peterhead this season East Fife have won all three matches against Peterhead this season

Keeping the opposition out is key for Peterhead, with Rory McAllister in tip-top form down the other end.

McAllister has scored six goals in his last four outings, yet the Blue Toon have won just one of those matches and remain eighth in League 1.

Peterhead boss Jim McInally said: "If we defend better as a team, including from the front and in the middle, we will be okay because our attacking options are so good at the minute."

"Rory's form is fantastic, possibly as good as it has been since I have been at the club ."

"I think he has also been helped with Grant Anderson coming into the team because we are now getting deliveries from wide areas including from Nicky Riley, who made one of the goals at Stranraer last week."

"It's important we keep getting the service into Rory and we keep him more central and if he stays in form then we will win matches, that is for sure."

East Fife are up next for Peterhead, who have lost all three meetings between the teams this season.

The Methil men won the round-robin fixture in the League Cup and also picked up maximum points from both League 1 matches.

McInally continued: "East Fife have been a jinx for us for a while now, even going back as far as the play-off final a few years ago."

"But that is something we should see as a challenge."

"They are a team, who have been on a really good run, and even in the Scottish Cup, they ran St Mirren close earlier this month."

"We will be prepared for another tough game but if we can win, we will put ourselves in the mix."

Team news - Nathan Blockey and Steven Noble are still out but Simon Ferry returns from a back problem.
