Peterhead midfielder Scott Brown reckons his team-mates must be ready for a battle at Stranraer on Saturday.
Ninth hosts eighth in League 1 as both teams look to pull away from relegation trouble.
Last season, the Blue Toon registered two thumping victories on the south west but they came unstuck on their last visit to Stair Park, going down 1-0 in August.
Stranraer have picked up their form in recent weeks after bringing in new boss Stevie Farrell, who has overseen two draws and a win so far without conceding a goal.
They have the chance to cut the gap on the Blue Toon to just one point but an away victory would boost the top four hopes of Jim McInally's men.
Brown said: "Sitting in eighth, we are not in a great position and there are 12 games to go now."
"The play-offs are not out of the equation but we need to make sure that first and foremost we are not in the bottom two spots."
"Stranraer have got a new manager and you often see that new manager factor when everybody pulls together and results start to turn."
"We have to be ready for a tough game because it is never easy down there."
"They will see it as a chance to catch up on us so we will have to roll our sleeves up and make sure we match their fight and their spirit."
Team news - Simon Ferry remains sidelined with an ongoing back problem while Nathan Blockley and Steven Noble will also miss out.
However, Nicky Riley is set to be restored to the starting line-up.
