Break comes at right time, insists boss

Thu 19 Jan 2017

No game for Peterhead this Saturday but boss Jim McInally believes the break has come at the right time.

The Balmoor manager is in the process of assembling his squad for the second half of the season and wants to conclude his business before next week's League 1 clash with Queen's Park.

Aaron Comrie, Liam Gordon, Michael McMullin and Allan Smith have joined the Blue Toon ranks this month and McInally is targeting at least one more signing.

Last time out, the Aberdeenshire outfit defied their lowly position to claim an eye-catching win at second top Alloa, a result which McInally hopes can be the cataylst for a surge up the table.

McInally said: "Somebody said to me, I bet you could do without the break now after beating Alloa, but to be honest we need it."

"It gives Liam a chance to get fit, especially as Scott Ross is suspended for the next game anyway."

"Not having a match also gives me a chance to get everything sorted out, hopefully before the Queen's Park fixture."

"The aim is that we can get everybody in that we want in and we can sort our squad out for the rest of the season."

"There are 15 big games left in front of us and there are still possibilities there for us to achieve what we set out to achieve at the start of the season."
