Hopkin complimentary of Peterhead

Sat 07 Jan 2017

Livingston manager David Hopkin was impressed with Peterhead, who provided a stern test for his League 1 leaders for the third time this season.

Hopkin's men were twice pegged back by the Blue Toon before claiming a narrow victory to open up a nine point gap at the top.

It was Livi's second win at Balmoor this season, with Peterhead coming out on top in the reverse fixture in West Lothian in November.

Former Chelsea, Leeds and Scotland midfielder Hopkin said: "Every time we play Peterhead, they show us they are very good team and they should not be anywhere near the bottom of the league."

"I said the same thing the last time we were up here."

"Peterhead always try to go and win games and I like the way they play and the way McAllister plays."

"They have players, who can hurt you, so if they just keep going the way they are, they will be fine because they are always going to be a threat."

"Even at our place, I felt that was probably the best we have played and we got beat 2-1."

"Scott Brown scored that day so they have got players, who can get up the park and hit you on the break."
