Fabulous February marked with an awards double

Thu 10 Mar 2016

A fantastic February was recognised as Peterhead picked up an awards double.

Boss Jim McInally was named the Ladbrokes League 1 manager of the month, following on from the prize he picked up in January.

Rory McAllister, the division’s top goalscorer, claimed the player’s award after netting five times including a hat-trick against his former club Brechin.

The Blue Toon won all of their matches in February, with victories coming at Ayr and Cowdenbeath along with home successes over Forfar and Brechin.

That run of results, which yielded 12 goals, propelled Peterhead to second spot and they are currently 16 games without defeat, their best form since entering the SPFL in 2000.

McAllister, meanwhile, is the third Blue Toon forward to be honoured this season after Leighton McIntosh claimed November’s award and Shane Sutherland took January’s prize.

This weekend, Peterhead go Stenhousemuir, where they last lost way back on the 31st October. McAllister, who has netted 31 in all competitions this term, bagged a first half treble that day in a bizarre encounter, which finished 4-3 to the hosts.

However, the 28 year old will sit out Saturday's match due to suspension, the first fixture he will have missed this season.
