Inverness Caley Thistle are two leagues above Peterhead but the Blue Toon are determined to make life tough for John Robertson’s team in the IRN-BRU Cup last 16.

The 2015 Scottish Cup winners are enduring a struggle in the Championship, having come down from the top flight, managing just one league win so far.

The Caley Jags knocked out Aberdeen’s under 20s in the last round with a 4-2 victory but Peterhead have yet to concede in the competition after a pair of 2-0 wins over East Fife and Annan respectively.

Blue Toon boss Jim McInally said: ‘We hope Inverness are vulnerable for this cup tie.”

“But, by the same token, I am sure they will look at the match as a chance to get their confidence up and get their league campaign up and running the following Saturday.”

“I heard an interview with John Robertson recently and that was what he was touching on, trying to get through to the next round of the cup and kick on from there.”

“From our own point of view, we know if we go there and frustrate them for a period of time then perhaps their supporters might get on their backs, not that I am expecting a big crowd there.”

Team news - Mason Robertson has joined Jordon Brown, Paul Cairney and Nicky Riley on the sidelines but skipper David McCracken is set to come back into the starting line-up.
