Peterhead ready for Warriors fight

Thu 31 Dec 2015

Steven Noble misses the League 1 visit of Stenhousemuir as in-form Peterhead look to start the New Year how they finished 2015.

The Balmoor skipper is suspended following his dismissal in the dramatic 4-3 comeback win at Airdrie on Boxing Day.

Talking about seven goal thrillers, the Blue Toon and Stenny threw up a memorable match when the teams last met on the 31st October.

Peterhead were on the receiving end that day, despite Rory McAllister's first half hat-trick giving Jim McInally's men a 3-0 lead.

However, they have not looked back, or tasted defeat, since.

On loan St Johnstone defender Ally Gilchrist scored the winner last Saturday and both his parent club and the Petrofac Training Cup finalists are keen to extend his stay in the north east, possibly until the season's end.

Stenhousemuir had been on a three game losing streak until they, like Peterhead, won last time out at Airdrie.  That was on Tuesday night, with Euan Murray netting the only goal in the last few minutes.

Brown Ferguson's team currently sit fifth, four points and two places behind the Blue Toon, who are seeking to stretch their unbeaten run to eight matches.
