Peterhead 1 Albion Rovers 1

Mon 07 Sep 2015

Scorers:

Peterhead - Brown (25')

Albion Rovers - Love (45')

A promising start from the Blue Toon turned into a disappointing draw against a dogged Wee Rovers side.

After the visitors had appeals for a handball against Ally Gilchirst waved away, prolific former Aberdeen midfielder Jordon Brown headed home a Kevin Dzierzawski cross to put Peterhead into the lead. The goal was Brown's fifth of the campaign.

However an equaliser from Albion's former Annan winger Ally Love dampened the mood before halftime and the second period proved frustrating for the 550-strong Balmoor crowd.

Despite pushing on, Peterhead were unable to find a second goal with the Blue Toon's formiddable front line drawing a blank for a second successive game.

The defeat means Peterhead drop out of the playoff spots and into fifth place, one point ahead of the Wee Rovers.

Blue Toon boss Jim McInally said: “We didn’t do enough to win the match.”

And Wee Rovers boss Darren Young added: "There won’t be too many teams that leave here with anything so I am happy and it continues our good start to the season.”
