Peterhead 2 Dunfermline 1

Mon 24 Aug 2015

Peterhead made a couple of changes to the side which recorded a great victory against Falkirk with Nicky Riley and Shane Sutherland returning to the side with Scott Ross unavailable and Leighton McIntosh dropping to the bench. However Leighton was to appear in an unfamiliar right back role as Jamie Stevenson pulled up with a hamstring injury on the 20 minute mark.

On the 30th minute, the Peterhead fans favourite par Josh Falkingham barged into the back of Nicky Riley as he entered the penalty area to give referee Charlestown no option but to point to the penalty spot. Rory McAllister continued his storing streak as he stroked the ball into the bottom left giving Murdoch no chance.

As half time approached Dunfermline’s El Bakhtaoui held up the ball and drew the bloo toon defence out before passing to Cardle who crossed for Michael Moffat to head the ball back across Graeme Smith and into the bottom corner of the net.

The second half provided some great football from both teams with Dunfermline exerting pressure on the Bloo Toon goal however Peterhead’s Graeme Smith pulling off some great saves which deservedly earned him a Man of the Match award from match sponsors James Jamieson Construction ltd.

On the hour mark Jim McInally introduced Scott Ferres for Nathan Blockley and Andy Rodgers for Shane Sutherland, it was the young Bloo Toon player Ferres pace tore the Dunfermline right back apart twice breaking into the box only for the final ball failing to find a team mate as the Bloo Toon searched for a second goal.

The Bloo Toon persistence was to be rewarded in the 89th minute as a long clearance from Graeme Smith clearance was headed on by Rory McAllister, Andy Rodgers won the challenge with the Pars centre half Richards-Everton and as the ball broke free to Leighton McIntosh he made no mistake lobbing the keeper to seal a first ever victory for Peterhead against Dunfermline.
